                2025 Fantasy Outlook

Nugent-Hopkins’ regular-season point totals from 2019-20 through 2024-25 were 61, 35, 50, 104, 67 and 49. The number of games played was a factor, but even if you just look at points per 60 minutes, he’s ranged from 1.9 to 3.8 per campaign over the same span. He does get somewhat more predictable when ignoring his 104-point campaign, though, which fantasy managers should do because he recorded 53 power-play points that season -- something he’s never come close to doing before or since. He even played roughly a quarter of his even-strength minutes with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman -- more than he did during that 104-point season -- and was a regular on the top power-play unit last year but still finished with 49 points. Can he do better this season? Absolutely, but don’t expect star numbers: 50-60 points is the right range to put him in. Contributes in comeback effort
Nugent-Hopkins scored a goal and dished an assist, both on the power play, in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
				  ANALYSIS
Nugent-Hopkins' goal at 12:17 of the third period tied the game at 5-5, and it came just under a minute after he helped out on a Leon Draisaitl marker. This was Nugent-Hopkins' third multi-point effort in eight contests. He's up to five goals, four assists, five power-play points, 15 shots on net and a minus-3 rating. He remains a key part of the Oilers' lineup in all situations, and he should continue to be especially productive with the man advantage.

Nugent-Hopkins' 37-goal, 104-point 2022-23 campaign will probably go down as an anomaly, but he's still an important part of the Oilers' supporting cast. The 31-year-old had 18 goals and 67 points in 80 regular-season contests last year along with another seven goals and 22 points across 25 playoff outings. Of course, it helped that he would often play alongside Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid, an arrangement that's likely to continue. Edmonton re-signed Adam Henrique over the summer, so the Oilers don't need to resort to using Nugent-Hopkins as their third-line center. Edmonton also brought in free agents Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson, who are most likely to share the ice with Leon Draisaitl on the second line, making it unnecessary for the Oilers to break up Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman and McDavid in the name of balance. With Nugent-Hopkins' position seemingly secure, another campaign of 60-70 points is achievable.

				  Working through injury
Nugent-Hopkins, who suited up for Monday's Game 3 loss to Florida in the Stanley Cup Finals after being deemed a game-time decision with an undisclosed injury, isn't on the ice for Tuesday's practice, according to Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic.
				  ANALYSIS
Nugent-Hopkins seemingly isn't 100 percent healthy -- he logged just 15:34 of ice time Monday after receiving 25:45 in Game 2 on Friday. Jeff Skinner took Nugent-Hopkins' spot on the top line at Tuesday's practice in South Florida, and the former is the most likely candidate to draw into the lineup if the latter is forced to miss any time in this series. The 32-year-old Nugent-Hopkins has a few days to rest before Game 4 on Thursday.
