ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old speedster has not had a ton of chances to prove himself in the NHL yet, but if he gets some more ice time, he could prove to be an asset for the Caps. Keep an eye on Fata, but don't waste a fantasy pickup on him yet.

Fata is a speedy, high-energy winger who's been a prolific AHL scorer (213 points in 241 games) but hasn't been able to put it together in the NHL. He'll likely be relegated to third- and fourth-line duty if he sticks with the Capitals out of training camp.
Fata got off to a strong start in 2003-04, but then slumped to one of the worst plus-minus totals (-46) in the entire NHL. Much has changed since then. He underwent testicular cancer surgery earlier in 2005, and seems to have found a new level of maturity. Unfortunately, the Penguins have added a plethora of free agent talent, and Fata will likely find himself on the short end of the stick -- playing-time wise. His reduced exposure actually could help the quality of his statistics, however, because he won't be hung out to dry the way he was when the team finished last overall in points in 2003-04.
