Last season was a bit like a handful of Bits and Bites for Holmqvist -- sometimes, he scored some yummy shredded squares and delicious rings, and other times, it was just all tasteless cheese things. Yes, he DID steal the starter's job from Marc Denis... but a peewee age goalie could have accomplished that last year. He's a better back-up than a starter but looks to platoon this season. That is, until coach John Tortorella gets tired of him again and starts playing musical netminder.
Holqvist has an AHL Calder Cup (2003) and a Swedish Elite League goals-against average title (2006) under his belt, and is a virtual lock to be Marc Denis' backup. At 28, he's still young enough to make a dent and could surprise this year. At least, you need to draft him as insurance for carrying Denis.
