The Bruins don't plan to make a contract offer to Hnidy, who played in three regular-season games and three playoff games for the team this past season, the Boston Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Hnidy figured to catch on somewhere as a depth blueliner and while he won't get his name on the Stanley Cup, his gig as a late-season insurance policy on defense for the Bruins allowed him to hoist/drink from it.

The 33-year year old is going to be a part of the third defensive pairing for the Wild this season and isn't in line to make any fantasy impact.
Hnidy is the classic steady-enough-to-keep-a-job, but never fantasy-worthy blueliner. He was a pleasant surprise for the B's last year, but that didn't really show up on too many score sheets. If a PIM a game excites you, then he's your guy, but overall he has just 45 points in 412 NHL Contests.
In 66 games with the Thrashers last season Hnidy managed three assists, 33 PIM’s, plus-1, and 50 shots. He’ll also turn 31 this year so there isn’t any upside either. Hnidy shouldn’t be used in any fantasy leagues
Hnidy was acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators to provide toughness to the Thrashers defensive corps. He will not score many points but he will end up racking up a good number of penalty minutes. Hnidy has four goals, 18 assists and 353 penalty minutes in 198 NHL games.
