Gillies made a name for himself last season when he was suspended a couple of times for questionable hits against opposing players. That's what he brings to the game - toughness and the ability to police the ice. Assuming he can keep his aggressiveness in check, the Isles like the fact that he can "protect" all the young talent coming up through the lower ranks. Fantasy wise, if you're looking for penalty minutes he's probably a player you can grab late in your draft, The trouble is he doesn't add much scoring, the NHL seems to have a bulls eye on his chest, and the Islanders won't play him every game.
