The Lightning have signed Petiot to a one-year, two-way contract, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
ANALYSIS
He's a depth defender who'll provide mentoring for the Bolts at their AHL affiliate. He played 66 games for the AHL Oklahoma City Barons last season, contributing 15 assists. He was also plus-14, a mark that tied him for the team lead.

Two words -- depth defender ... in the AHL.
Petiot came over to the Hawks from the Lightning. He had a chance of making the big club during the preseason. Petiot skated in 11 games for Tampa in 2008-09.
Depth guy on the farm.
Has a shot to make the Kings opening night roster. Petiot hopes that this season will be much better than last season when he tore tendons in his knee during his rookie season. He returned to play 15 games for Manchester last season. If he does not make the opening game roster, he will most likely before the first defenseman to be called up, if healthy.
Will have to battle for a spot on the Kings roster this training camp. If he doesn't make it, he'll likely be one of the first call ups after an injury or ineffectiveness.
