It's looking unlikely the Predators will re-sign veteran Gelinas (knee), who drew praise for his leadership last season, the Nashville Tennessean reports.
ANALYSIS
"I wish we had a position for him because he's good as a fourth-line guy, with penalty-killing and leadership," general manager David Poile said. "But right now we have those guys. You never say never, but it's a long shot." The Preds could be leaning more on their youth and prospects in the coming season, as each of these veteran players pass from free agency on to other teams.

Gelinas brings 17 seasons of NHL experience to the Predators this year. He signed as a free agent from the Panthers during the off season. Although Gelinas is 10 years removed from his 30-goal ability, he does have a lot to offer the Predators this season. However, that won't translate into much fantasy hockey value. Gelinas will be expected to spur some offensive spark on the team and a 40-50 point season should be in store considering the talent around him.
