Van der Gulik was reassigned to AHL Manchester on Friday, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Van der Gulik's demotion likely signals that Trevor Lewis (upper body) will be activated in advance of Friday's game against the Red Wings. The 31-year-old Van der Gulik was recalled by the Kings on an emergency basis for Thursday's game against the Penguins, during which he saw just over five minutes of ice time.

Van Der Gulik, spent the 2009-10 campaign with Calgary’s AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat. He tallied 40 points (16G, 24A) in 64 games, ranking him second on the Heat in scoring. He is expected to open the upcoming season back in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters.

Van der Gulik will start the 2009-10 season with the Abbotsford Heat (AHL). He may be called up if the Flames have some injury problems but he shouldn't be viewed as a fantasy option. He is merely organizational depth at this point in his career.

Van der Gulik had another solid season in the AHL in 2007-08, scoring 19 goals and 23 assists in 80 games. He did get called up after the AHL season ended last season, but won't likely see much time in the NHL this year aside from an occasional injury fill-in.
