Munroe is a 29-year-old netminder who has played in one NHL game (for the Flyers) in a six-year minor league career. He went 9-12-2 in the KHL last year, compiling a 3.03 GAA and .896 save percentage. Munroe is the favorite to back up Brad Thiessen for the Baby Pens, but Patrick Killeen isn't far behind him.

Munroe posted 31 wins for the Philadelphia Phantoms (AHL) last year. He'll switch over to the Sound Tigers for 2009-10 as the Islanders signed him to a one-year deal. Unfortunately, given the depth the team now has at goalie, Munroe is not likely to see time wit the Isles this year.
