Connelly was traded to the Blackhawks on Wednesday in exchange for forward Brad Winchester, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
It's just a minor deal between two teams trading spare parts in their organization. Connelly, 27, had 32 points in 50 games for AHL Iowa. He'll report to the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford.

Connelly was named Rockford of the AHL's Rookie of the Year for the 2009-10 season and in turn gives him a shot at making the Blackhawks with some openings on the varsity roster. Last season, Connelly tallied four goals and 31 assists in 78 games along with 28 penalty minutes.
The defenseman was sent down to Rockford of the AHL on Sept. 21. Connelly enters his first full professional season after playing in nine games with Rockford last year. After completing his third season at Colorado College, Connelly joined the IceHogs for the playoff push and first round of the postseason.
