After failing to crack the Preds' roster last season, Klasen signed a three-year contract with the Malmö Redhawks of the HockeyAllsvenskan on May 17, 2011. He was immediately appointed the team's captain. The contract reportedly includes an annual salary of $4 million SEK ($0.6 million USD), making him the highest-paid Swedish ice hockey player.

2010 Fantasy Outlook

Klasen recorded a career-high 51 points (19G, 32A) in the Swedish Elite League last season. He has dazzling offensive skills who is seen as a future top-six forward for the Preds. According to GM David Poile, "[Klasen] will be a guy we'll give a good look to in training camp and see what happens...he's gifted offensively and he's going to be a guy who could play on our top two lines and our power play." That said, Klasen will first have to make the transition from Europe to North America, likely with a stint in the AHL.
