Straka signed a one-year deal with HC Plzen of the Czech league on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Straka was acquired by the Devils in November, but he never made it into their game-day lineup, instead spending the 2016-17 campaign in the minors. The 25-year-old's three NHL appearances came during the 2014-15 campaign while he played for the Flyers. In those outings, the winger did manage to tally a pair of assists and seemed like an up-and-coming player. A disappointing 2016-17 season with AHL Albany appears to have derailed Straka's career, so he'll look to reboot it overseas.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

Straka is a speedy center and a former second-round draft pick. Though he's only 20, Straka netted 41 goals and 41 assists in 55 games last season in the QMJHL. He has a goal-scoring prowess that could warrant a late-round pick in a keeper league. Still, given his youth and the Flyers' depth at center, look for him to start the season polishing his skills in one of the minor league affiliates.
Injuries cut short his QMJHL season and his production suffered, but he bounced back to score four points in five playoff games for Rimouski. Straka has the speed and sniper mentality to make an impact, but his top priorities this season in the Q are staying healthy and showing consistent effort.
Smooth-skating prospect scored 28-36-64 in 62 QMJHL games last season, his first in North America.
