Brenner's first year as a pro was a disappointment -- he struggled to find his scoring touch and ended up in limbo between the AHL and ECHL. He needs to pump up the volume this year to earn another pro contract.
Brenner is yet another of Brian Burke’s free agent finds. He’s a smooth-skating, offensive-minded player who has plied his trade at both forward and defense who was signed last March out of Rochester’s Institute of Technology. He’s a good all-round player but remember, there are reasons guys go undrafted over and over again. His best year in college by far was his last -- 26 goals and 15 assists for 41 points in 37 games. He’ll play in the AHL but he’ll need to impress quickly or he’ll end up as a career minor leaguer.
