Khokhlachev remains on the Bruins' reserve list, Mark Divver of The Providence Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2011 second-rounder never really had a chance to showcase his skills at the NHL level with the Claude Julien-coached Bruins and has been playing in the KHL the last two seasons. That said, the 24-year-old thrived for AHL Providence under the direction of current Boston coach Bruce Cassidy, so it's not out of the question that Khokhlachev might re-visit his status with the Bruins once his deal with Spartak is up. Khokhlachev is coming off a strong campaign in which he logged 19 goals and 50 points with Spartak, good for sixth overall in KHL regular-season scoring. The Bruins organization has solid depth up front, but the 5-foot-10, 181-pounder definitely has the skills to make a run at a job with the team should he elect to take another shot at the NHL.

In his second full season of North American pro hockey, Khokhlachev -- a 2011 second-rounder -- led AHL Providence in scoring with 15 goals and 43 points in 61 contests, while making his NHL debut (he was held without a point in three games) in the process. Set to turn 22 in September, Khokhlachev profiles as a feisty and skilled offensive forward at the NHL level, but the 5-foot-11, 184-pounder will need to continue to develop physically and positioning-wise in order to take his game to the next level and thereby carve out a regular role with the big club.
Khokhlachev -- a 2011 second-rounder -- blossomed in his first full season of North American pro hockey, leading AHL Providence in scoring with 21 goals and 57 points in 65 contests. Set to turn 21 in September, Khokhlachev projects as a feisty and skilled forward at the NHL level, who can provide the B’s with a spark on offense. He’ll have a shot to crack the team’s roster with a strong preseason, and even if he doesn’t, Khokhlachev’s time to shine may not be far off.
Khokhlachev, selected in the second round (40th overall) of the 2011 NHL entry draft, recorded three points in 11 games with AHL Providence this past season. The 5-foot-10, 172-pounder was almost dealt to the Flames in March, but remains in the Bruins’ organization after that deal fell apart. At 19, he still needs some seasoning, but in time the shifty Khokhlachev, projects as a feisty forward, who can provide the B's (or another team, if he is ever really dealt) with some spark on offense.
Khokhlachev, who is slated to play for the KHL's Spartak this coming season, has signed an entry-level deal with the Bruins and plans to take part in the team’s training camp before departing for Russia to make his pro debut. Selected by the Bruins 40th overall in 2011, the undersized but feisty Khokhlachev was OHL Windsor’s second-leading scorer last year with 25 goals and 69 points in 56 games. He’ll be back with the Bruins after this coming season, with a year of high level pro play under his belt and presumably on track to make a run for a roster spot with Boston, where his offensive spark would be welcome.
Khokhlachev turned in a nice OHL debut last season, recording 76 points in 67 games. The B's second-rounder checks in at a smallish 5-foot-10, 188-pounds, but he is a skilled player with loads of energy who gives the organization a dynamic young offensive prospect to groom.
