Muse appeared in 15 games with AHL Lehigh Valley last year, going 11-2-1 with a .919 save percentage and 2.46 GAA.

Though he stands a good chance at serving as Carolina's second option behind Cam Ward in 2012-2013, Muse is a long way from a meaningful role within the organization. The former national champion with Boston College spent most of last year in the ECHL, and will almost definitely require some seasoning before proving an asset to the big club. Even if he were on the Canes' roster this season, a healthy Ward plays as much as any goaltender in the league, leaving his backups 10-12 starts per season.
