MacDermid, who was previously suspended by the Flames after choosing not to report to AHL Abbotsford, has officially fired his retirement papers, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

ANALYSIS
Just 24 years old and ostensibly healthy, MacDermid probably has some good hockey left in him, but the winger reportedly has lost his passion to play and will pursue other endeavors. Perhaps some time away from the ice will rekindle his desire to play, but if that ever happens, it will likely be with a different organization.
