Patiently waiting for an NHL opportunity, Kerdiles has spent almost his entire pro career in the AHL. The 24-year-old is a gifted goal scorer that sometimes struggles with his two-way game, but he compiled 15 goals and 19 assists in 49 games for AHL San Diego last season. In turn, the Ducks traded him to Winnipeg as he a restricted free agent. Kerdiles will have to scratch and claw for a roster spot with the Jets, and he'll likely be relegated to AHL Manitoba instead.
Kerdiles only appeared in one NHL game last season, and the former Wisconsin Badger was waived ahead of the 2017-18 season. He's a talented winger, but the two-way element of his contract all but ensures that he won't have a significant role in the NHL unless injuries deplete the parent club.
Signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Ducks in June of 2017. The deal is worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 in the minors.
After wrapping up his two-year career at the University of Wisconsin last season, Kerdiles, a former second-round draft choice by the Ducks in 2012, will enter his first season as a professional at AHL Norfolk. The 20-year-old was an offensive force for the Badgers as a sophomore, delivering 15 goals and 23 assists over 28 contests. Kerdiles remains blocked by the Ducks' wave of young forward talent already on the roster, but if he thrives at Norfolk right away, he could find himself on the team's short list of injury call-ups.
