Set up for possible return
Hagg is in consideration for a return against the Flames on Thursday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Red Wings need to a change of pace; they've lost two straight games and currently sit in seventh place within the Atlantic Division standings. Hagg -- who was activated from injured reserve Jan. 16 -- reportedly paired with Olli Maatta in Wednesday's practice, and he's projected to replace Jordan Oesterle in the upcoming contest. Hagg has a pair of assists, 17 blocked shots and 36 hits through 13 games with Detroit this campaign. Of course, even if he does play, his scant role shouldn't equate to much fantasy value.

Hagg never lived up to his potential with the Flyers and ended up being shipped to Buffalo in the deal that brought Rasmus Ristolainen to Philadelphia in late July. Hagg has never scored more than five goals or 20 points in a single season, but he should be able to eat plenty of minutes for a rebuilding Sabres team in 2021-22. Where Hagg does make a fantasy impact is in the hit department. He could flirt with 250 hits over the course of a full 82-game campaign while also adding well over 100 blocks. Just keep in mind that it will almost certainly come with an ugly plus-minus rating attached.
