Carruth will provide the 'Hawks with organizational depth at goaltender, which means he'll likely spend the entirety of the 2016-17 campaign in the minors. The 24-year-old netminder posted a 6-5-2 record with a .926 save percentage and 2.30 GAA over 17 games with AHL Rockford last season.

Carruth is in line to serve as one of the Blackhawks' goalies at AHL Rockford in 2015-16. The 23-year-old appeared in three games with the affiliate last season, going 2-1-0 with a .925 save percentage and a 1.69 GAA.
Carruth is expected to see his first games as a professional at either Rockford of the AHL or Toledo of the ECHL. The 2010, seventh-round draft choice of the Blackhawks was named to the WHL All-Star team last season.
