Catch him if you can. Roy is a quick skater with deceptive hands and can slip out of peripherals with ease. He has no alternative in order to avoid getting physically destroyed, as he stands at 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds. The 25-year-old hasn't let it restrain him too much, as he posted 37 points in 45 games for AHL San Diego last year and lit the lamp six times for the Ducks through 25 games. Natural goal-scoring is tough to come by, so a solid preseason of tickling the twine could help him fill a bottom-six position if Patrick Eaves (shoulder) isn't healthy in time, but another full season in the AHL wouldn't stunt Roy's growth.
Roy, a 21-year-old forward from Quebec, has zoomed up prospects lists since the Ducks selected him in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He’s set to begin his junior season at Northeastern University, after wreaking havoc in the Hockey East his first two years, averaging more than a point per game as a freshman and sophomore. With another strong campaign at the collegiate level, he could make the jump to the pro game.
