A stay-at-home defenseman signed out of Princeton University, Sdao's development has been slowed by injuries as he started the season on the injured list. He had appeared in just 17 games for AHL Binghamton this year prior to the trade and is expected to play a depth role for AHL Rochester. He's a restricted free agent at the end of the season and it's unclear if the Sabres will retain him.

The former seventh-round draft pick has played the last two seasons with AHL Binghamton, but doesn't seem likely to make the jump to the NHL in 2014-15. He managed six goals, five assists, and 171 PIM in 61 contests last season, but with a number of more highly rated defensive prospects ahead of him, the Ottawa blue line is too crowded at this point to make Sado worth picking up.
