Updating a previous report, Tkachev's three-year, entry-level contract has been nullified by the NHL, Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal reports. The undersized winger will instead be tossed back into the pool of draft-eligible players for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

ANALYSIS
The Oilers looked to have unearthed a gem in Tkachev, an amateur tryout who turned heads in training camp with his speed and quick hands, but because he has yet to play a full season in North America, he wasn't able to sign the deal. Tkachev played in only 20 regular-season games for Moncton of the QMJHL, and will be eligible for signing once he logs a full slate of games at the junior level this season. Unfortunately for the Oilers, he's now squarely on every team's radar, making it likely that he'll be drafted by another organization come June.
