McIntyre has backed up Marc-Andre Fleury over the last few games but hasn't seen any NHL action this season. McIntyre hasn't made an NHL appearance since the 2016-17 campaign with Boston. He has an .884 save percentage in 12 AHL games this season.

McIntyre and Malcolm Subban continue to battle for slotting on Bruins’ goaltender depth chart behind NHLers Tuukka Rask and Anton Khudobin. While McIntyre, who’s entering his age-25 season, hasn't enjoyed great results in his stints with the big club to date, he’s coming off another strong effort with AHL Providence, having posted a 21-6-1 record with a 2.03 GAA and .930 save percentage over the course of 31 regular-season contests in 2016-17. A strong training camp could lead to McIntyre supplanting Khudobin as Rask’s top backup.

McIntyre, 23, was drafted by the Bruins in the sixth round of the 2010 NHL Draft. The first-year pro is coming off an outstanding campaign with the University of North Dakota in which he was named the winner of the 2015 Mike Richter Award, recognizing him as the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men's hockey this past season, after compiling a 29-10-3 record, 2.05 GAA, and .929 save percentage in 42 games. With backup goalie Niklas Svedberg having left for the KHL, McIntrye could emerge as a candidate to open the 2015-16 season as the No. 2 option behind starting netminder Tuukka Rask. Malcolm Subban and Jeremy Smith are currently the Bruins' other top in-house options on that front.
