A late first-round pick in 2015, Carlsson has yet to earn a regular shift on a crowded Columbus blue line. The 23-year-old has the size and reach to be a fearsome asset in his own end some day, but he doesn't play an overly physical game and doesn't contribute much offensively. He'll need to stand out from a crowd fighting for bottom-pairing jobs in camp that includes Dean Kukan, Scott Harrington and Andrew Peeke (among others) to avoid one more season honing his skills in the AHL.
