Lipanov has struggled to even break into the AHL this season, appearing in just one game for the Crunch. Instead, the Russian center has been featuring primarily in the ECHL where he has just one point in eight contests. Selected by the Lightning in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Lipanov will now have to try to prove himself in the Stars' system before becoming a restricted free agent his offseason.
