Takes OT loss in NHL swan song
Miller stopped 21 of 25 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild.
ANALYSIS
The 40-year-old Miller was making the final appearance of his distinguished NHL career. Minnesota's Victor Rask scored 2:46 into overtime to ruin the farewell for Miller, whose 391 career victories are the most of any American-born netminder in NHL history. Miller went 4-8-2 in 2020-21 in a backup role behind No. 1 starter John Gibson, posting a 3.51 GAA and .882 save percentage.

Miller drew into 23 games with the Ducks last season, posting a 9-6-4 record while registering a 3.10 GAA and .907 save percentage. The 40-year-old backstop will be back in Anaheim as John Gibson's primary backup after signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Ducks in late December. He'll get limited usage, as Anaheim will likely ride Gibson hard during the upcoming shortened campaign, and won't perform particularly well when he is between the pipes, so Miller won't be anything more than a streaming option in 2020-21.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Would fit with Avs
Trading for Miller could be the solution to Colorado's lack of depth in net, according to an NHL executive interviewed by Pierre LeBrun and Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Miller can likely be had for a mid-round pick from the rebuilding Ducks, and he would give the Avalanche an experienced backup option for the postseason behind Philipp Grubauer, who has only 23 games of playoff experience. The team hopes to have backup Pavel Francouz (lower body) back by the playoffs, but he hasn't played all year and can hardly be relied upon to be both healthy and effective. Given Colorado's legitimate Stanley Cup aspirations, the team will almost certainly add a goalie, and Miller's expiring $1 million cap hit would be easy to fit without sending out salary and would also come off the books this summer as Colorado doles out raises to a number of key internal free agents.
