Dubnyk struggled in his final season with the Wild in 2019-20, posting a 12-15-1 record while registering an ugly 3.35 GAA and .890 save percentage in 30 appearances. The 34-year-old netminder will be putting on a new sweater for the first time in five seasons in 2020-21, as Minnesota decided to trade Dubnyk and a seventh-round pick to the Sharks in exchange for a fifth-round pick in October. Martin Jones was awful as San Jose's starter last year, posting a 17-21-2 record, a 3.00 GAA and a .896 save percentage in 41 appearances, so Dubnyk will definitely be in the mix for starting duties should Jones continue to struggle during the upcoming campaign. If Dubnyk's able to steal the starting job, he could find himself back in the fantasy discussion as a low-end starter, but he shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a mid-to-late round lottery ticket with decent upside heading into this year's drafts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Garnering interest from Avs
Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now believes the Avalanche could target Dubnyk in a trade to back up Philipp Grubauer while Pavel Francouz (lower body) is out.
ANALYSIS
With Francois sidelined, Colorado's options behind Grubauer are Adam Werner and Hunter Miska, and an Avalanche club with Stanley Cup aspirations could prefer a more experienced backup goalie. Dubnyk carries a hefty $4.3 million cap hit in the final year of his deal, but Colorado could help absorb the hit by moving the injured Francois to long-term injured reserve. While Dubnyk has actually played pretty well in San Jose this season, his 2.71 GAA and .917 save percentage through six appearances (four starts) have not been rewarded with any wins.
