With 187 goals and 183 assists over 602 career games, Franzen ranks 22nd in points all-time among Red Wings players. Unfortunately, “The Mule” has been dealing with concussion-like symptoms for the past three years and is unofficially retired. Still, the Swede -- who has long-term injured reserve status -- technically remains under contract for two more seasons; the team must account for his $3.954 million cap, but the LTIR exemption allows the Wings to keep Franzen on the books by engaging the Accruable Cap Space Limit. While fantasy owners shouldn't concern themselves with a player who probably will never hit the ice again, hearing about Franzen will invoke nostalgia among any die-hard fan of the Winged Wheel.
