Sullivan is an offensive-minded defender with the ability to rack up points. Sullivan came over to the Panthers in mid-season swap for Tim Kennedy and was assigned to San Antonio (AHL). Sullivan is projected to start the season in the AHL, but could find his way to the big club with a strong camp and or injuries on the Panthers' blue line. Sullivan does not project as a long-term keeper, but has sleeper potential based on his ability to pot the puck. He totaled 34 points in 61 AHL contests last season, scoring six times between Worcester and San Antonio.
Among the many defensive prospects in the Sharks’ organization, few can match the offensive prowess of Sullivan, a Boston native who signed a contract this past July to remain in Team Teal’s system for at least one more year. Last season, Sullivan was the highest-scoring defender for the Worcester Sharks of the AHL, having notched 35 points (12 G, 23 A) in 73 games. The obvious downside is that Sullivan has yet to debut in the NHL.
The Sharks inked Sullivan to a one-year deal in the offseason, giving Team Teal organizational depth at defense. Sullivan showed his knack for point-producing last year with San Antoinio of the AHL, having potted 12 goals to compliment 37 helpers. With three minor-league seasons behind him, Sullivan may not be far away from the NHL.
Sullivan had a surprisingly prolific offensive season in 2008-2009 in the AHL, earning 32 points (9 G, 23 A). He figures to return to the AHL again in 2009-2010, and if he continues the upswing that he has experienced over the past two season, he could climb up the ranks in the organization.
