				  Loaned out of organization
Panik was loaned from AHL Bridgeport to HC Lausanne of the Swiss league Wednesday, per CapFriendly.
				  ANALYSIS
Panik got into four games with the Islanders last year, but it's clear he's not part of their immediate NHL-level plans. The 31-year-old will likely get playing time with Lausanne, but expecting him back in the NHL this year would be a stretch.

Panik has become well traveled in recent years, and he was on the move again when the Red Wings traded him to the Islanders ahead of the Kraken's expansion draft in late July. After producing just 13 points in 48 games split between Detroit and Washington in 2020-21, the Islanders will have to hope buying low pays off. The 30-year-old winger has previously touched as high as 44 points in 2016-17, and he's topped the 30-point mark three times in his nine-year career. Panik will likely compete for a middle-six role with the Isles, but he'll need to be defensively sound and simultaneously outplay youngster Oliver Wahlstrom to earn a more prominent role. Panik should still draw some interest in deeper fantasy formats, but the Islanders are a defense-first team and that could suppress his scoring numbers.

				  Could be moved before season
Panik could be traded to help the Capitals free up cap space, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
				  ANALYSIS
Panik registered nine goals, 13 assists and 67 shots in 59 games for Washington last season while averaging 11:20 of ice time. It was the winger's lowest minutes per game total since 2015-16 when he was with the Blackhawks. As such, the 29-year-old Slovak seems to have become expendable, though finding a trade partner willing to take on his $2.75 million cap hit could be difficult in the current financial situation.
