Headed overseas?
Weise has denied reports linking him to a move to HC Lausanne next season, telling reporters "There is no agreement. I'm here and I'm focused on the playoffs. I am 100 percent aiming for a return to the National League next year, I want to play well in the playoffs and I want to sign a new contract with the Canadiens," per Guillaume Lefrancois of La Presse.
ANALYSIS
Weise is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The fact that he played in just 23 games for the Habs this year, in which he tallied just five points, likely won't have a lot of teams inquiring about his services. If the 31-year-old winger does move overseas, it would likely end his NHL playing career.

Weise's best seasons as a pro have been with Montreal, so there was some anticipation when the Canadiens brought him back at the trade deadline last year. Unfortunately, the veteran winger was clearly not the same player this time around, going scoreless while registering five shots on goal in nine games. Weise's poor play led to him sitting as a healthy scratch for the final 13 contests of the campaign. The 30-year-old is entering the final year of a four-year contract, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Habs bury him in the AHL for the entirety of the upcoming season. In other words, Weise will have zero fantasy value in 2019-20.
