2025 Fantasy Outlook
Theodore had topped the 50-point mark only once in his career prior to this past season, but he was rewarded with a seven-year, $51.975 million contract extension shortly after the start of the campaign. The offensive defenseman returned the favor to the Golden Knights by setting new career highs in assists (50) and points (57) across 67 regular-season appearances. Theodore isn’t solely reliant on his power-play role to produce offense -- 38 of his 57 points came at even strength in 2024-25. That alone makes him a reliable blueliner in fantasy, but it’s possible his ceiling has yet to be seen -- the left-shot blueliner has never played a full 82-game season in his 10-year NHL career. If he can stay healthy and retain his spot on the No. 1 power-play unit over Noah Hanifin again, Theodore could reach 60 points for the first time in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks

Contributes power-play assist
Theodore provided a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 1.
ANALYSIS
Theodore's shot was tipped twice, with William Karlsson getting a piece before Mark Stone deflected it in for the opening goal at 2:13 of the first period. Through seven playoff outings, Theodore has five points, four of which have come on the power play. He's added 18 shots, 11 blocks and a minus-4 rating. While he should still be able to make an impact on offense, Theodore will be seeing heavy defensive minutes against the Oilers' top forwards throughout the second round.

Theodore suited up in only 47 regular-season games during the 2023-24 campaign, accumulating five goals, 37 assists, 105 shots on net and 78 blocked shots. He missed 35 contests after suffering an upper-body injury in late November that required surgery to repair. Still, the 28-year-old Theodore ranked third on the Golden Knights in average ice time per game (22:05) and tied for third in power-play points (15), while also finishing tied for first on the team in assists. Theodore failed to score a point during Vegas' first-round playoff exit against Dallas, indicating that maintaining the same torrid scoring pace in the 2024-25 season is unlikely. Still, the talented blueliner could operate in the 50-60 range, so fantasy managers should not forget about him on draft day.

Pops up in Eichel talks
Vegas' recent contract extensions for fellow defensemen Zach Whitecloud and Ben Hutton have Jesse Granger of The Athletic speculating that the Golden Knights are getting ready to move Theodore out as part of a package for injured Sabres star Jack Eichel.
ANALYSIS
Vegas is considered a front-runner in the ongoing Eichel sweepstakes since the team's largest weakness is at the center position, but you have to give to get, and the 26-year-old Theodore could be an attractive piece for a Sabres team that has its eye on the future but would like to build on its strong start this season. Theodore has developed into one of the league's most productive offensive blueliners, coming off consecutive campaigns with at least 42 points, and Granger reasons that Whitecloud could slide up the lineup to fill in for Theodore in the event of a trade, while Hutton could enter the lineup in a third-pairing role previously occupied by Whitecloud.
