2019 Fantasy Outlook
Goldobin finished 2018-19 with 27 points in 63 games, including nine on the power play, where he averaged 2:33 of ice time. The 23-year-old is an offensive dynamo but sports a minus-24 rating over his past two NHL campaigns, something that has limited his ice time and hurt his fantasy value. If he is able to carve out an everyday role with the Canucks this season, Goldobin carries undeniable fantasy potential. Whether he can actually pull that off is another story. His performance at Canucks training camp will be worth keeping a close eye on. Read Past Outlooks

Goldobin agreed Saturday to a two-year contract with KHL club CSKA Moscow, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
ANALYSIS
Goldobin appeared in a Nov. 27 game for the Canucks but has otherwise spent the 2019-20 campaign with Vancouver's AHL affiliate in Utica, putting up 50 points in 51 contests. With the AHL season under an indefinite suspension that isn't expected to be lifted until at least May, Goldobin will be allowed to pursue an opportunity in his home country of Russia. Goldobin, who appeared in 125 regular-season games at the NHL level between San Jose and Vancouver the past five years, said he plans to explore a move back to North America once his contract with CSKA Moscow comes to an end, per Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 Vancouver.

2017
Based on talent, Goldobin should be the Canucks' leading candidate to fill the top left-wing spot vacated by Daniel Sedin. Goldobin showed occasional flashes of elite skill with 14 points in 38 games, but his lack of focus in other areas saw him finish with a minus-14 rating and averaging under 13 minutes a game. The Canucks want Goldobin to be better on defense, and if he can't be trusted at both ends of the ice, he'll find himself getting limited ice time and draw in and out of the lineup once again. Among the Canucks' stockpile of young wingers, Goldobin is intriguing because of his high ceiling, but that upside comes with plenty of risk for fantasy owners.
Goldobin, a promising winger, was pried away from the Sharks in the Jannik Hansen deal shortly ahead of the trade deadline last February. San Jose's first-round (27th overall) 2014 draft selected made 12 appearances for the Canucks, affording the Russian the chance to flash his sniping ability on the big stage (he ended up with three goals on only 10 shots). With Goldobin having two years remaining on a two-way contract, Vancouver can shuffle the crafty prospect between the organizational ranks without exposing him to waivers. Of course, even if he impresses in training camp and cracks the Opening Night roster, Goldobin would be hard-pressed to leap over Markus Granlund or Sven Baertschi on the depth chart. It's best to let this supposed gem gain more experience before investing in him outside of keeper/dynasty leagues.
