Philippe Myers
Philippe Myers
23-Year-Old DefensemanD
Philadelphia Flyers
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Myers has established himself as a great AHL defenseman over the last two campaigns, but he has yet to translate that success to the NHL level, and with the offseason additions of Justin Braun and Matt Niskanen, it's worth wondering whether he'll be able to lock down a full-time role with the Flyers in 2019-20. The 22-year-old posted nine goals and 33 points in 53 appearances with AHL Lehigh Valley last year, but in 21 contests with the big club, he only managed one score and two points. The 6-foot-5 Canadian will be fighting for a spot on Philadelphia's bottom pairing during training camp, and almost certainly won't be a dependable fantasy option this season. Read Past Outlooks

Scores critical goal in victory
DPhiladelphia Flyers
August 3, 2020
Myers scored a goal on five shots and dished out two hits with a plus-3 rating in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.
ANALYSIS
It was a terrific playoff debut for the 23-year-old defenseman, who gave the Flyers a 3-1 lead just eight seconds after Boston had gotten on the board. His plus-3 rating tied for the team lead and his five shots on goal led all players. Myers had four goals and 16 points with a plus-17 rating in 50 regular-season games, his first full NHL season.

A groin injury kept Myers sidelined for much of the first half of last season, but he came on strong to record eight goals and 28 points in 63 AHL games including the playoffs. The 21-year-old was playing so well by spring, it was surprising he didn't receive a chance to appear at the NHL level. Myers could receive that shot in 2018-19, but the Flyers are stacked with talented young defensemen. While it will probably take an injury for Myers to get his NHL chance, he's worth monitoring.
