Bogstrom was traded to Chicago from Florida along with Brett Connolly, Riley Stillman and a seventh-round pick in exchange for Lucas Carlsson and Lucas Wallmark on Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Borgstrom has spent the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign with HIFK of Finland's Liiga, racking up 11 goals and 19 points in 27 games. The 2016 first-round pick will probably remain overseas for the remainder of the season, but he'll likely get an invite from the Blackhawks for next year's training camp.

Borgstrom recorded 18 points in 50 games as a rookie last season. Florida's first-round selection in the 2016 draft (23rd overall) figures to hold down the third-line center role, but it remains to be seen whether his offensive prowess at the NCAA level (95 points in 77 games with the University of Denver) translates to NHL success. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is an exciting prospect, but he might not be ready to move the needle in fantasy given his modest production thus far at the top level.
Borgstrom made his NHL debut last year, turning in a brief stint with the Panthers. The highly touted prospect scored a goal through four games near the end of the regular season. Prior to that, Borgstrom unloaded 23 goals and 52 points in 40 contests for the University of Denver on the heels of a 43-point output from his 2016-17 collegiate season. Selected 23rd overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, Borgstrom is a crafty center with tremendous puck skills and top-six upside. He should see some more NHL action during the 2018-19 campaign, but will likely spend most of his time at the AHL level with Springfield.
Seen as a reach by many when he was selected 23rd overall by Florida in 2016, Borgstrom proceeded to post 43 points in 37 games in his freshman season at the University of Denver to help the Pioneers win the NCAA Championship. A tall, lanky kid who possess terrific vision and hockey IQ, Borgstrom has developed into one of the better prospects in the entire league and he could be ready to challenge for an NHL job after just one more season of collegiate hockey.
