ANALYSIS
They don't come any classier than Burnaby Joe, who was respected throughout the NHL for his integrity and dedication to the game. Sakic finishes his 20-year career as the eighth-leading scorer in NHL history (1,641 points). He currently stands 14th overall in goals scored (625) and 11th in assists (1,016). He was the face of the Avalanche franchise through their glory years in the mid-1990's along with Peter Forsberg and Patrick Roy en route to winning two Stanley Cups, and is a sure-fire Hall of Famer. From a fantasy perspective, he was a no-brainer pick most seasons, and when healthy, he rarely disappointed. Joe, you will be missed!

Avalanche nation breathed a huge sigh of relief on August 27, 2008, the day Sakic ended all the uncertainty about his playing future and agreed to return to the Avs for one more season. There's not much else that can be written about Sakic that hasn't been penned already. His stats speak for themselves - 19 seasons, 1,629 points in 1,363 games, an average of 1.20 points per game. The only real issue about Sakic coming into this season is how is his health? Assuming he's healthy - which he says he is - Sakic should return to his usual level of output. Perhaps not quite a point per game, but poolies can pretty much be comfortable with 70-plus.
