Alain Nasreddine

Nasreddine represents more of a feel-good story than a fantasy prospect. The 32-year-old defenseman toiled in the minor leagues since the 1995-96 season before scoring his first NHL goal for the Penguins in his hometown of Montreal last year. With five points (1,4) in 44 games there's virtually no upside with the blueliner, though his plus-12 rating was second best on the team.

Nasreddine is a longshot at best to make the Penguins in 2006. The 31-year-old journeyman played in six games for Pittsburgh last year, going scoreless with eight penalty minutes. Nasreddine, who briefly debuted in the NHL with Chicago back in 1998-99, has seen action on four NHL teams but has never played in more than eight games for any one of those squads.
