Greene split time between the Devils and the Islanders in 2019-20, combining for 14 points in 63 games split between the two teams. A strong veteran presence, Greene will provide leadership to an otherwise young defense corps for the Islanders. Unfortunately, leadership is not measurable for the fantasy game, and Greene is unlikely to top the 15-point threshold in 2020-21. He'll likely block a ton of shots -- he stepped in front of 155 pucks last year -- but the 38-year-old's limited scoring potential and third-pairing role will keep him off the fantasy radar.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Won't return to Long Island
Greene will not be back with the Islanders this season according to general manager Lou Lamoriello, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports Monday.
ANALYSIS
Greene remains a free agent with training camp about a month away and likely would have to accept a veteran-minimum deal wherever he might land. Over the last 16 seasons, the defenseman logged 1,057 games with the Devils and Islanders, registering 52 goals and 212 assists, plus another 14 points in 90 postseason clashes. Even if Greene does secure an NHL deal, he will be hard-pressed to earn more than third-pairing minutes.
