Antti Suomela

Suomela has flown under the radar as a late-blooming center from Finland. He notched 55 goals and 75 assists between 169 games in SM-liiga before splitting the 2018-19 campaign with the Sharks and AHL San Jose, averaging 0.37 points per game between the two clubs. Suomela's rapid rise to prominence ultimately prompted GM Doug Wilson to reward him with a fresh one-year, two-way deal. A solid training camp could result in Suomela cracking the Opening Night roster with the Sharks for a second straight year, but in order for him to be an appealing fantasy option, it'll take much more than the 11:19 of ice time he's averaged to date. Either way, early signs point to him shuffling between the NHL and the minor leagues with regularity this season.

Suomela drew serious among NHL teams before agreeing to a one-year deal with the Sharks in June of 2018. He led the SM-liiga -- a Finnish league -- with 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 59 games last season. He was recruited by the same Sharks scout credited for bringing Joonas Donskoi, Marcus Sorensen and other burgeoning forwards to the Bay Area. Already considered a polished product, he'll have a chance of making the Opening Night roster to open the 2018-19 campaign.
