Segal is a player who has bounced around the NHL and AHL over his career; The 29-year old will likely open the season with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL. Unless he surprises in training camp, Segal isn't a player that owners will select on draft day.
Segal netted an improbable five goals (including two game winners) in just 19 games for Dallas after being acquired from the Kings, but there's nothing in his past to suggest that sort of scoring output should be expected. He'll skate on one of Dallas' depth lines this season.
He's a career minor-leaguer who will provide some organizational depth and some leadership at the AHL.
Segal is quickly turning into a career minor leaguer and he's just 24. He'd need to explode offensively at that level and then stake out some territory in the NHL in order to gain fantasy relevance. And we just don't think it's going to happen.
