A reunion with the Capitals didn't lead to much ice time in the NHL for Leason in 2025-26. He made six appearances for the Capitals, but he had 14 goals and 30 assists over 56 regular-season games for AHL Hershey. That scoring touch in the AHL is a positive, but he'll likely stay at that level with the Barracuda to begin 2026-27, barring a strong training camp. Leason had played at least 36 games in each of the previous four NHL campaigns -- that's valuable experience, but the Sharks have plenty of prospects who need a look at the top level. Leason will join the Wild in training camp on a professional tryout agreement with the hope of proving he still has enough in the tank to earn a full NHL contract. In 62 appearances for the Ducks last season, the 26-year-old winger notched five goals and 12 helpers while dishing out 64 hits in 12:59 of ice time per game. If the Calgary native is capable of securing a roster spot, it almost certainly would be a two-way deal that would allow him to split his time between the NHL and AHL.
