Hulse was released by the Hurricanes on Monday, according to the team's web site.
ANALYSIS
Evidently, three assists in two preseason games, even for a defenseman, isn't enough to keep a guy in Raleigh. Hulse was invited to camp "on a free agent tryout basis," and will probably look to find a home elsewhere.

Hulse has been invited to the Hurricanes' training camp, but is simply trying out for a roster slot, with no contract in hand. Only a significant number of injuries at the Carolina blue line give him a decent chance of meaningful playing time. Probably no fantasy value even if he does make the team.
Husle is a durable, physical defenseman who enters the 04-05 season with 103 straight games played. He is not a big scorer, but is good for 120 plus penalty minutes. Husle scored the most points in 03-04 since his 1997-98 season.
