The Capitals have terminated the contract belonging to Kugryshev, the team's second-round draft choice of 2008, The Washington Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Kugryshev had signed a three-year deal with the club in March of 2010, but the Russian winger is headed back to his home country after reportedly agreeing to a two-year deal with CSKA Moscow of the KHL. In 2010-11, he had a brief stint in the ECHL and made his way into 64 games for AHL Hershey, netting six goals and eight assists with a minus-7 rating.

Kugryshev is known as a scorer and has produced at each level he has competed, except for a tough first year in the AHL. In 64 games in Hershey Kugryshev recorded a measly 14 points. As one of the top prospects in Washington's system another season like he had last is only going to set him back more. Look for him to produce at a higher level with a year under his belt.
Kugryshev was the fifth-leading scorer in the QMJHL last season with 29 goals and 58 assists in 66 games. He just has a knack to score and has done so his whole career. He is a solid winger who is strong on his skates and plays a two-way game. He still has some time to fine tune his game and will probably not be playing in the NHL this coming season unless injuries strike the team and he is needed. Kugryshev will likely spend the season in AHL Hershey.
Kugryshev is a solid winger and is effective along the boards. He doesn’t posses burning speed, but his progression on skates is solid. He has great balance, especially on the boards where he uses his technique, balance and toughness to win most of the battles. He has a ways to go to make it to the NHL.
