St. Louis took a chance by presenting Holloway with a two-year, $4.58 million offer sheet over the summer of 2024. Edmonton, which was short on cap space after inking veteran forwards, opted not to match it. At the time, there was some logic to the Oilers’ decision. While they originally took Holloway with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, he had just 18 points across 89 career regular-season outings as well as seven points in 26 career playoff appearances. Given how stacked Edmonton was up front, there wasn’t an obvious top-six spot available for Holloway. The Blues gave him that chance, and he took full advantage, supplying 26 goals and 63 points across 77 appearances. Still just 23 years old, Holloway is capable of putting up similar numbers this season in the second half of what now looks like a steal of a contract. Opens scoring Thursday
Holloway scored a goal on three shots and added three hits in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Canucks.
				  ANALYSIS
Holloway opened the scoring at 3:23 of the first period. The 24-year-old started slow in 2025-26, but he's earned a point in four of the last five games to pick up the pace on offense. While he's been listed on the third line recently, he's still seeing plenty of ice time amid the Blues' ongoing line shuffles. Holloway has two goals, three helpers, 22 shots on net, 34 hits and a minus-6 rating over 11 appearances, so he still offers appeal as a power forward even if he can't match his 63-point output from the 2024-25 regular season.

Holloway had just one point in his first 14 games last season and before suffering a lower-body which cost him the better part of two months. He remained healthy the rest of the way, closing with six goals and nine points in 38 regular-season games. The highlight of his season was a two-goal, one-assist effort in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Holloway's blazing speed makes him an ideal forechecker and he could see an increased role after signing an offer sheet St. Louis in the offseason.

				  Bound for St. Louis
Holloway's offer sheet with St. Louis is not expected to be met by Edmonton on Tuesday, Ryan Rishaug of TSN reports.
				  ANALYSIS
Holloway logged 38 regular-season games for the Oilers last year in which he generated six goals on 56 shots, three assists and 90 hits while averaging 11:22 of ice time. With the Blues, the winger should slot into a bottom-six role, likely challenging Kasperi Kapanen or Mathieu Joseph for ice time -- though he could move up the lineup should injuries crop up during the season.
