Nazar, who hasn't played at all in 2022-23 after undergoing hip surgery in October, might stay with the University of Michigan for the 2023-24 campaign, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nazar is in his freshman campaign with the University of Michigan. If he was healthy this season, Chicago probably would have signed him this summer so that he could turn pro for the 2023-24 campaign. However, Nazar might not play at all in 2022-23 and even if he does, he likely get into many games. For that reason, Blackhawks assistant general manager Mark Eaton thinks Nazar could benefit from another season with Michigan to make his eventual transition to pro hockey easier. The 19-year-old was selected by Chicago with the No. 13 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
