Pascal Leclaire's backup played in 37 games last season, winning 10 games with mediocre rate stats. If Leclaire were to get hurt the Blue Jackets might be just as likely to give Steve Mason a chance as turn the starting job over to Norrena, so he may not be worth even a bench spot behind Leclaire in deep leagues.
His 'rookie' NHL season was a revelation, as the 33-year-old Norrena posted very respectable numbers behind a porous, injury-wracked Columbus blue line. A healthy Pascal Leclaire still figures to be the #1 goalie for the Blue Jackets, but Norrena will force the kid to earn the job.
Picked up in the Marc Denis trade, Norrena has put up good numbers in Sweden and will compete for the backup goaltender role in Columbus during training camp.
