				  Announces retirement
Lundqvist (heart) is retiring from the NHL.
				  ANALYSIS
Lundqvist's illustrious career featured everything but a Stanley Cup, but it unfortunately came to a premature end due to a heart condition discovered prior to the start of the 2020-21 campaign. The future Hall of Fame goaltender had a 459-310-96 record, 2.43 GAA and .918 save percentage in 887 career NHL appearances, all with the Rangers. He was even better under the bright lights of the postseason, with a 2.30 GAA and .921 save percentage over 130 starts, including a 6-2 record in Game 7s and no more than one goal allowed in any of those six victories.

After 15 illustrious seasons, Lundqvist and the Rangers mutually parted ways this offseason, with the latter buying out the final year of Hank's contract in September in order to give him a chance to earn significant playing time with another club in 2020-21. It didn't take long for Lundqvist to latch on with another team, as he signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Capitals just nine days after being bought out. Ilya Samsonov will be Washington's No. 1 netminder during the upcoming season, but with a condensed schedule remaining a strong possibility, it wouldn't be surprising to see King Henrik get around 40 percent of the starts. He'll be playing behind a defensively-sound, Cup-contending squad, so Lundqvist's career-worst numbers from last year (.905 save percentage, 3.16 GAA) should both improve, and he should carry a winning record, too. Virtual managers who pick Samsonov early should be sure to snag Hank in the later rounds of this year's drafts.

				  ANALYSIS
Lundqvist missed all of last season after undergoing open heart surgery. He resumed light workouts in early July, but it's unclear what level of form and fitness he's in six weeks later. Even if he wants to play again, the future Hall of Famer will need to gain medical clearance from the league before he's able to test the market.
