Schultz did little in his first year in the AHL, scoring just three goals in 45 games. His biggest contribution, as it has been throughout his career, was in the physical part of the game and amassing penalty minutes. All in all, it was a disappointing year for Schulz, who may be squeezed out of a job if he doesn't regain what scoring touch he had in the Western Hockey League.
