                2025 Fantasy Outlook

The only area Shesterkin was at his best in 2024-25 was in games played -- he saw action in 61 contests but went 27-29-5 with a 2.86 GAA and a .905 save percentage. It was the first time he missed the 30-win mark in four years and the ratios were career-worsts for the netminder. Still, the Rangers know elite goalies don't grow on trees, which is why they signed him to an eight-year deal at an $11.5 million annual cap hit, which kicks in for 2025-26. Shesterkin was hardly the only problem with last year's Rangers, but he'll need to improve his numbers to help the team get back on track. Shesterkin has the track record to be an elite fantasy goalie, and even a down year didn't look that bad on paper. Any draft-day discount will be slight, but don't hesitate to roster the 29-year-old this season. Gets support in overtime win
Shesterkin stopped 33 of 36 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Oilers.
				  ANALYSIS
The Oilers led 3-1 in the middle of the second period, but the Rangers tied it up in the third and won on a J.T. Miller goal in overtime. Getting some support had to look like an oasis in a desert for Shesterkin, who has received one goal or less of help from his teammates in five of his nine outings. He ended an 0-3-2 skid with this win, improving to 3-4-2 with a 2.32 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season. The Rangers wrap up their road trip in Seattle on Saturday. Shesterkin is 4-0-1 with a 2.18 GAA and a .934 save percentage in five career games against the Kraken.

Sure-thing Shesterkin is one of the few guarantees in fantasy. He's consistent, night in and night out and he delivers elite results in every category. Plus, Shesterkin is a beast in the postseason. He's likely the sole reason the Rangers went as far as they did in the 2022 and 2024 playoffs. Heading into 2024-25, there's plenty of chatter about a contract extension, and the financial challenge that comes with it. Shesterkin wants max money and that will make him the highest-paid netminder in the NHL. So, cap-league managers have one more year to get real value from his current deal. Don't stress if negotiations drag into the season - they won't impact his stats. Shesterkin is a potential first-round fantasy pick if you believe in building from the net out and he won't last long after the turn if you wait.
