Last year was a train wreck for the Canucks, but Rathbone was one of the few bright spots. The Harvard product got into eight games late in the year, picking up a goal and three points. A former fourth-round pick in 2017 (95th overall), Rathbone appears to be NHL ready. The question now is where does he fit into the Vancouver lineup moving forward? Rathbone is an offensive defenseman, but the Canucks already have Quinn Hughes to quarterback their power-play, in addition to having acquired Oliver Ekman-Larsson in a trade with Arizona this offseason. Rathbone deserves a full-time spot, but it's hard to see him receiving the ice time needed to make a fantasy impact in 2021-22.

Rathbone has an assist in six games with Vancouver while averaging 15:25 of ice time. He hasn't been in the Canucks' lineup since Nov. 9 though, and was reassigned to the AHL on Nov. 28. He's recorded three assists in seven AHL contests in 2022-23. If Rathbone doesn't have a place on Vancouver's defense, then perhaps there's another team that's willing to give him a shot. The Canucks probably wouldn't get much of a return for the 23-year-old on the trade market though.
